Cymru -Y Metel
Please meet one of our jewellery designers and goldsmiths, Steve Paget. Steve has designed many items of jewellery through the years for various companies, and has now found his niché with a company that are forward thinking in their approach to jewellery design. Cymru-Y Metel is the sister company of Aardvark Jewellery which has been established for around 40 years now. Steve is a family man and has been married to Joanne for twenty years. They have two children, Josephine (22), and Daniel (18).
In the year 2000, Steve was very honoured and proud to be able to design and make by hand a special piece of jewellery for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the late Queen Mother to celebrate her 100th Birthday. This special piece was delightedly received and was in the form of a brooch based on the Snowdon Lily, a rare plant that only exists on the highest peaks of the glorious Mount Snowdon in North Wales. It was made using 18ct white gold and 18ct pure yellow Welsh gold, (the plant stems, leaves and petals being white gold and the stamens in the centre of the three flowers being pure yellow Welsh gold).
Steve not only had the honour of making the brooch for the late Queen Mother but also had the pleasure of making a special pair of cufflinks for His Royal Highness Prince Edward as part of the Millennium celebrations for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards in Wales. The cufflinks were made from silver and 18ct pure yellow Welsh gold, and bore the Duke of Edinburghs' emblem, a double-reversed sword, which forms a cross with a crown above it.
We are proud and excited to have Steve on our team as we know that he will create many new and innovative designs.
